Glitter and Sequins . . . Oh My

I hope you had a wonderful Easter and had lots of family fun. We had some great weather here in Houston, TX which was perfect for the Easter Egg hunts and hanging outside. I also had a little bit of a chance to play in the craft room and made this fun sparkly card using the Pinkfresh Folklore Die .

I started out by die cutting this intricate die on glitter paper. I ran it through my Big Shot a couple of times to make sure that all the intricate pieces were cut. I then played around with the paper to see if I wanted to remove only some of the portions of the die,but in the end I removed most of them so that more sequins would show.

I must admit, I’m not the greatest at making shakers. I thought that the best plan for this intricate die would be to use some spray adhesive on the back of the paper and then I took a scrap piece of plastic (recycling packaging from a stamp purchase lol). It ended up being quicker and I like the results, so I may use it more in the future.

Once it was dry, I flipped it over and added foam tape to the edges of the plastic and then added some sequins and confetti that I’ve had in my stash from Target. I carefully added by cardbase to ensure that all the sequins stayed inside and my cardbase was centered.

I then added stripes of blue cardstock around the edges to hide the edge of the foam tape and added this perfect sentiment from the Brilliant Pinkfresh set and a very shiny card.

I’m entering my card in two challenges this month. The first one is the April 2019 Pinkfresh Challenge.

  1. This totally caught my eye in the Gallery, its amazing!! I haven’t made a shaker card for ages and this has inspired me to get my beads out and create. I love the colour of the glitter cardstock and the blue around the edge is a gorgeous frame. Stunning card and I’m so glad you shared it with us at TIME OUT!
