I’m playing along with The Ton’s Challenge and having fun with some spring colors.
I love The Ton’s floral images and decided to make two cards for the challenge using this gorgeous magnolia set.
For my first card, I stamped the magnolia on some watercolor paper in Antique Linen Distress Ink to do some no-line watercoloring. I used color No 37 fin my Gansai Tambi set for the Magnolias and once it was dry masked the image, and sprinkled Color Bursts on the background to give it a brighter look.
Lesson learned: next time do the background fist so the watercolor image doesn’t get wet. In general my image was fine and I only had to touch up a couple of spots. Before I removed the mask I also sprayed some gold spray to bring some sparkle to the card. I stamped the sentiment in Veramark ink and clear embossed it. To finish, the card I added a couple of clear sequins.
For my second card I used similar colors but this time in Alcohol Inks. I stamped the magnolias in my MISTI on Yupo paper in Versamark ink and white heat embossed it. Make sure to let the heat tool get really hot in order to limit warping. I also taped the image to a clipboard to limit any warping. I used pink sherbet, raspberry, wild plum, and a little purple twilight for the magnolias. I dropped in color on some petals and also took a small paint brush and dabbed it in spaces. For the branches, I used espresso and thinned out the color with some blending solution. The background was made with various blues: patina, pool, turquoise, and cloudy blue.
I added layers of the colors with blending solution and used the air blower to move ink. Once the layers were all dry, I used my MISTI to re-stamp and emboss the image in order to have a bright white image. I added the sentiment using my MISTI as well so not to smudge it on the slick Yupo paper, and finished it with a couple of sequins.
I also entered both of these cards in The Flower Challenge.
Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!

Both of these are beautiful and I cant get over the fact that you white embossed and heated twice on the yupo. I have done once and had to be so careful and more times than not ended up with a singed corner. Truly love the alcohol one, this I need to try as I love playing with alcohol inks but have always gone with just backgrounds. You have mastered adding to the flowers, looks amazing.
The other flower looks just as beautiful in watercolour, two looks I need to try now I have rediscovered my magnolia stamp. Thank you so much for joing us at The Flower Challenge Aileen DT

Thanks so much Aileen 😊. It’s a heavy weight yupo so that helps when trying to heat emboss. I was a little nervous the second time around but went for it. Lol
