Happy Birthday Flowers

Fall is here, but if you live in Texas like we do it really doesn’t seem like it since it is still in the high 90s and humid. There is a new challenge over at The Flower Blog – Anything Goes which is always fun!

This month, Michele from CAS-ual Fridays Stamps has donated a $25 voucher for the winning card, so get creating! Just remember the following rules

1. Use flowers as you main feature on the card
2. The card you enter should only be entered in 6 other challenges and
3. Read the Rules tab on the challenge blog to ensure your entry will be counted.

Here is my card this month.

I started off by stamping the flowers in Versamark ink on watercolor paper and heat embossed them in gold. I then took out my Altenew Watercolor Pan set and played around with some pinks, purples, greens, and a little orange and yellow.

I then took another piece of watercolor paper (placed it in a shoe box) and misted it with water and played around with some Color Bursts in Sap Green and Lime Green. The Color Bursts are pigmented powders that react with water. I smooshed a little with some leftover plastic and then dried the first layer of the background. Once the layer was dry I then used the plastic with the color on it, to add some texture to the paper. Each time drying the layer and adding a little more color.  I repeated the same process with Corn Flower and Prussian Blue.

One all the layers were dry, I added some gold spray to the base.

I then cut the flowers out and figured out how I wanted to layer them on the card. I used glue dots on the bottom base of flowers to give them a little lift.

I then stamped the sentiment in black Versfine ink and clear heat embossed it. I adhered it to a navy cardbase. I love all the gold and sparkle on the card!
