Timeless Tulips

I love tulips because they come in so many different colors! I’m playing along with the Flower Challenge #13 a challenge that celebrates cards using floral images. They are celebrating their 1st anniversary and have so many great prizes and beautiful cards! All the prizes look amazing, and I would love to win the Power Poppy and The Ton prize!

I decided to make a couple of cards using this Timeless Tulips from Mama Elephant. Its the perfect image for so many sentiments so I decided to stamp several in my MISTI and try different techniques.

Below are the cards images I stamped. I stamped two in Distress Ink (Spun Sugar and Antique Linen) and embossed the other two (White and Gold).

For my first card, I used the Gold Embossed tulips and colored them with Zig markers. I wanted to make it a birthday card for my mother in law and so choose some bright pinks. I used the Concord & 9th Happy Words and paired it with Mama Elephant’s Birthday die cut. I adhered it to a Kraft card base and added some pink ribbon to add a little birthday touch.

For the second card, I stamped on Watercolor paper in Spun Sugar Distress Ink. I wanted to get a no-line watercolor look for the flowers and used my Winsor Newton Watercolor Markers.  These markers are easy to use like the Zigs but I find that they lay down a lot more pigment and so the look is a little different. I added the black in the middle of the flower after the image dried. I adhered this one to a green cards base and used the sentiment that is included in the set. I used my MISTI to stamp the sentiment in Reverse Confetti Rose Ink and then stamped it a second time in Versamark ink to clear heat emboss it. I added some Clear Nuvo drops at the end.

For my third card, I used the white embossed image and Zig markers. I had found an image of a tulip that had yellow stripes on the petal and tried to recreate the look.

For the sentiment I stamped it in Altenew Autumn Breeze and then stamped it a second time in Versamark ink to clear heat emboss it. I adhered it to a yellow cardbase and then added some Dandelion Yellow Nuvo drops.
