Ink Smooshing with Crafty Individuals

I’m over at the Topflight Stamps Blog today with two quick spring time cards using the ink smooshing technique, which is basically putting color on some plastic, adding a little squirt of water and smooshing it on the cardstock to get a random watercolor look.

For the first card I used Zig Real Color Brush markers. I started with the yellow and colored randomly on leftover plastic and then spritzed with water. Taking my Britsol Smooth paper, I smooshed the color on the paper and dried the layer. I repeated this with the blue and purple, adding ink until I got the layers of color I wanted.

Once it was dry, I added the bird image with some Versfine ink and used some WOW Clear Sparkle to heat emboss it. I love how the embossing powder adds a fun little sparkle to the project.

For the second card, I used Jane Davenport Mermaid Markers and added more ink to watercolor paper. Once the background was dry, I heat embossed the image with Emerald Creek Midnight Magic to add some blue to the card.

I finished the card with some white gel pen and white Nuvo drops for dimension. I love the random watercolor look of the ink smooshing.
