Glittery Mermaid with Alcohol Ink

I hope that your week has been going well. I’m not sure if you’ve heard but it is officially fall here in the United States which means Pumpkin Spice everything. However, Houston TX where I live did not get the message as it is still 101° F which does not feel like fall. In fact if we had a pool I would probably be in it all day long trying to escape the heat. A mermaid might be my spirit animal lol. So, it’s no wonder I can’t stop making mermaid cards with this Visible Image Mythical Mermaid.

I love her detail and the different ways you can color her up. For this card, I started by stamping her in Versamark ink on Bristol Smooth paper and used WOW Aventurine Embossing Powder to give her a sparkly underwater blue look.

I then colored her up with my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers and fussy cut her out. I had a leftover background from when I was playing around with alcohol inks that I thought would be perfect. I’m not sure if I’m the only one, but I have a stack of backgrounds waiting to find their perfect match.

To give my background a little more texture, I stamped the Scripted Streets in Versamark ink and heat embossed it with Ranger Silver Pearl Embossing Powder. I love the pearl look it gave the background and how it lightened up some of the areas.

I stamped the sentiment on black cardstock and heat embossed it with white and then did a second embossing with the same Ranger Silver Pearl to give it a shimmery look.
