A New Year’s Bloom: Mixed Media Magic with Gel Press

Hello friends!
Today I’m excited to share a vibrant mixed media page to kick off the New Year. Using a gel press background as the foundation, this page came together quickly and brought so much joy to create. Let’s dive into the details!

For my base, I started with a gel press print featuring PaperArtsy Fresco Paints in Bubble Gum and Firebird. To add an extra touch of texture and color, I had previously pulled a print using the Lavinia Lattice stencil with Berry Nice, introducing pops of purple into the mix. The layers and colors made for a dynamic and fun background that set the tone for the entire page.

To build dimension and interest, I incorporated bits from the AALL & Create Skycrossed Paradise die cuts and accented them with AALL & Create Letter Back Home washi tape. These elements added texture and a sense of movement to the page.

For the central image, I used a beautiful flower from the AALL & Create Petal Power set, which fit perfectly within a black frame I’d prepared. To make the flower pop even more, I added a touch of extra color with some colored pencils. The fine details really brought the image to life and made it the star of the page.

To wrap up the design, I included a sentiment from the AALL & Create Motivation Station set. It’s always satisfying to finish a piece with the perfect phrase, tying the elements together and adding a thoughtful message to the artwork.
