The Darkside of Coffee

I hope you are all having a wonderful week! I’m playing along with the 2019 Spring | Summer Coffee Lovers Blog Hop and here is my card inspired by May 4th. Have you had a chance to take a look at all the wonderful coffee inspiration?

Coffeelovers

I’m using this set from Topflight, one of the super sponsors so be sure to check out this blog post for more details.

Here is my card using Katzelkraft stamp sets as well as some Emerald Creek Embossing Powders.

I love this sentiment and thought it would go well with a galaxy background. To make the background, I started with some watercolor paper and added Color Burst to the paper. I’m not very experienced making galaxy backgrounds (this is my first one), so I just kind of winged it based on past videos I’ve seen.  I started with Naples Yellow and spritzed it with water and then let it dry. Once the it was dry, I added some tangerine. Between each layer, I let the colors dry to as not to have a muddy mess of a background. I then used turquoise, ultramarine blue, and finished with Prussian blue.

Once it was all dry, I went in with some white paint and added splatters to the background for stars.

sentiment

For the coffee cup, I stamped it in Versmark ink and then used this awesome Emerald Creek Just Java powder which actually smells like coffee! So fun and amazing! I stamped the stars and embossed them with Emerald Creek Midnight Magic powder which is a shimmery, metallic blue. I painted the cup with some Zig markers in yellow and gray so that it would stand out against my dark background.

I cut fussy cut the cup and added it to the panel with foam tape. I love this sentiment and heat embossed it in white to match the stars.
