Hot Mess

I hope you are doing well. I was lucky enough to get my hands on these new sets by Essentials by Ellen and wanted to share them with you. You can find the new release here.

Let’s take a look at the Hot Mess Leading Lady. As a mom, I can totally relate and often feel this way because I also live in Houston lol.

I love the sentiments in this set as well as all the cute little dies so I decided to make a shaker card, mostly because, well that is just the way life as a mom is sometimes, all jumbled up and juggling multiple things.

I started out stamping the Hot Lady on Copic friendly paper and then used Brutus Monroe ink in Raven to stamp the lady. I colored her using Copics in the BG family. I then took the added images and die cut them and colored those in pinks and blues. I love how cute these little images are and thought they would make the perfect shaker pieces for my card.

I stamped the sentiment in Versafine ink and clear heat embossed it to give it some definition. Once I had all the pieces compiled, I used a rectangle stitched die and die cut the card where I wanted to add the shaker pieces. I added a larger piece of plastic and then foam adhesive around the rectangle as well as on the rest on the back. I adhered the piece onto some Aqua cardstock.

To finish the card off I added some carnation pink Nuvo drops.

For my second card I wanted to use the new Strong Set. I love the script and it makes the perfect sentiment for a friend going through a hard time.

I took some watercolor paper and used my watercolors to make a rainbow. Once that was dry, I decided to play with a little foil and stamping. I stamped the image in Versamark ink and then applied sticky embossing powder and heat set it. I then took gold foil and applied it by rubbing my finger across the foil. This was my first time working with this powder and it wasn’t as sticky as I thought it would be and so the foil didn’t transfer all the way. However, I still liked the look and so decided to keep it.

I die cut the strong sentiment and then added the “You Are” in black Versafine ink. I wanted the negative to reflect a little more gold, so took the Versamarker Pen and colored in the strong and added some gold perfect pearls. I used the Reverse Confetti Lacy Scallop frame to give some interest to the panel and added some clear Nuvo drops.
