Concord & 9th Butterflies and Flowers

I love playing with new to me techniques. On the Where Creativity Meets C9 blog the challenge was to case a designer. There were so many gorgeous cards to case and I choose this one by Karen Baker .

Isn’t it gorgeous and I love the soft colors and the rounded edges of her card. After reading her blog she said she accomplished the look by using her Zigs to color directly on the Hello Lovely stamp. Here is the one I tried with my Zigs.

After I stamped it I used a wet water brush and pulled the color around to give it a water color look and added the sentiment in VersaFine ink from Happy Words and clear embossed, adding some Nuvo drops as a final touch.

I then played around to see if I could accomplish a similar look with distress stains. Here is what it looked like when I stamped the butterflies from Butterfly Beauty set with my Misti. with the different distress stains.

I then pulled the color with my brush, stamped a couple more images and came out with this final card.

Here is the other card I did with distress stains.

I love this soft look and will definitely be playing with this technique on some more of my stamp images. Hope you  get a chance to play with this fun technique! Cheers!
