I’m so excited to share my card for today’s creative hop—a vibrant birthday card made with some of my favorite mixed media goodies. There’s nothing quite like layering textures, paints, and bold florals to celebrate someone special!

A Background with Spring Vibes
I started this card with a gel press print using the DIY & Cie Spring Break Texture Plate—a total favorite of mine for its fun, freeform patterns. I paired it with PaperArtsy Fresco Paints in Mermaid and Beach Hut—such dreamy, beachy colors that instantly say “spring is here!” 🌊☀️
To add extra depth, I layered over the background with Kate Crane’s PS453 stencil, dabbing on Baltic Blue Fresco Paint using a foam brush. The textures and colors started coming to life in the best way.
Watch the Process!
Take a peek at this quick video of how it all came together—paint, layers, texture, and a little messy magic:

Floral Focal Point
While that deliciously layered background was drying, I moved on to my focal point—the Kate Crane KC011 flower stamp. I reached for my trusty PaperArtsy Mattints in Glow, The Pink, Jam, and Greenstone. I absolutely love painting with Mattints—they’re perfect for layering and blending with just a splash of water for a soft, dreamy effect.
Once the flower dried, I fussy cut it out and stamped the same image directly onto my background. This little trick lets me keep all the beautiful stamped details underneath while making the cut image really pop!

Finishing Touches
To tie it all together, I added some white and black Posca pen accents—a few sketchy lines and dots always give a mixed media piece that extra handmade charm. Finally, I finished the card with a sentiment from the Creative Expressions Birthday Sentiment Sheets, adding just a touch more color with—you guessed it—more Mattint!
Join the Fun!
Thanks so much for stopping by! 💕 Be sure to hop along with the rest of the crew—there’s a chance to win, and even more gorgeous inspiration waiting for you. Whether you’re a mixed media pro or just dipping your toes into paint and texture, I hope this card brings a little birthday joy your way.
Until next time, stay crafty and colorful!

What a fun mixed media card! The colours are so bright and bold but the design is simple and makes everything pops. New to mattints and they look stunning, and I admit that I’m impressed you squeezed out a perfect drop of paint from the bottles ahaha

What a fun card. I’ve merely dabbled in mixed media but your video has reminded me of techniques I’ve learned but fail to instill in my projects. Thanks for the reminder and inspiration.
