✨ Spellbound by Color: A Magical Books & Embossing Adventure ✨

Happy July, crafty friends! Ericka from Strangely Creative here, and you know what that means—it’s time for a brand new Lindy’s Gang Facebook Challenge! This month’s theme is Books & Magic, and I couldn’t resist diving headfirst into a whimsical, color-packed project full of shimmer, sparkle, and a little fairy dust.

📚🔮 Design Team Inspiration: Books, Color, and a Touch of Enchantment

I started this oversized tag with a humble piece of cardboard from the back of a paper pad—talk about upcycling! After a light coat of gesso, I splashed on some of my favorite Lindy’s Gang colors: Prima Donna Purple, Bling-y Blonde, and Drop Dead Gorgeous Green.

But surprise—my first gesso layer got a little too cozy with the cardboard and the watercolors soaked in. No worries! I went back over with another layer of gesso, this time mixing in some Magicals for an extra boost of pigment and shimmer. The result? A dreamy, colorful base full of texture and glow.

✨ Embossed Details & Magical Layers

Once my background was dry, I pulled out some stencils and embossing ink to add dimension. I sprinkled Merry-Go-Round Green and Pop Rock Purple embossing powders to create a sparkly, enchanted vibe. The way they caught the light made the whole background come to life!

📖 Stamped Spellbooks & Mystical Words

For the focal point, I stamped some adorable book images from the Katzelkraft set onto watercolor paper and colored them using the same Magicals—plus a touch of brown for that aged, spellbook feel. After fussy cutting the books, I layered them onto the tag with foam tape for dimension.

To finish it all off, I stamped a sentiment from the Visible Image Enchanted Fairy set onto vellum and embossed it with Boogie Down Black. A little staple held it in place and added that grungy magic vibe.
