Creating a Vibrant Mixed Media Journal Page with Lindy’s Gang Magicals

Hello friends and happy July! I hope you’re all enjoying a fabulous summer! With a new month comes a fresh Color Challenge over at the Lindy’s Gang Facebook page. This month, we’re diving into the vibrant hues of the Summer Break Magicals. These colors are absolutely stunning, and I was inspired to create a bright, summery journal page using some of my favorite Tim Holtz products.

Step-by-Step Process:

Step 1: Stamping and Embossing

I began my project by stamping the Stamper’s Anonymous Floral Trims onto my journal page and heat embossing them with Lindy’s Wowzers White embossing powder. This created a lovely, crisp white outline that would resist the vibrant colors of the Magicals.

Step 2: Adding Color to the Flowers

Next, I used Umbrella Drink Pink to loosely paint the flowers, giving them a cheerful and summery feel. For the centers, I added a touch of Teenie Weenie Bikini Yellow, creating a beautiful contrast. I then mixed Dip A Toe Teal with Beach Ball Blue to paint around the flowers, filling the background with a rich, aquatic hue. The combination of these colors truly made the flowers pop!

Step 3: Creating the Insects

While my journal page was drying, I took some Bristol Smooth paper and added the same Summer Break colors to it. Once dry, I die cut the Sizzix Funky Insects from this colorful paper. The insects turned out amazing, showcasing the bright, bold colors perfectly.

Step 4: Adding Background Elements

With my page dry, I randomly stamped the Stamper’s Anonymous Ledger Script in gray to add some subtle background texture. This script stamp is perfect for adding a touch of vintage elegance without overwhelming the main elements of the page.

Step 5: Assembling the Page

I adhered the colorful insects onto my page, allowing them to flit among the floral designs. To finish off the page, I added some Tim Holtz Quote Chips for a bit of inspiration and layered some AALL & Create washi tape for additional texture and visual interest.

Final Thoughts

I absolutely love how this journal page turned out! The Summer Break Magicals from Lindy’s Gang brought a vibrant, summery feel to the project, and the combination of the floral trims and funky insects created a lively, whimsical scene.

Thank you so much for stopping by Strangely Creative today. I hope this post inspires you to join us over at the Lindy’s Gang Facebook page for this month’s Color Challenge. Have fun creating, and enjoy the rest of your summer!
