Flower Challenge #65

It is the beginning of February which means it is time for a new Flower Challenge. This month the challenge is:

We also have two new DT joining us this month. So delighted to introduce Dhruvika Raj from ‘The Cardogram’ and also Stef Perry from ‘Perry Papercrafts’. Our Guest Designer this month is the talented Trina P who was our winner in June. Do check out her blog/Instagram if you have a minute as she makes such fabulous cards.

Here is my card for the challenge using the Altenew Fresh Cut Roses.

I love this set and decided to emboss the image in gold and color it with a soft pink. Soft colors are hard for me, as I love a bright background. Once I was was done coloring the image with my Zig Clean Color Real Brushmarkers, I used a pink colored pencil to add a little shading.

I stamped the sentiment in black for a bold look and added some pink gems around the card for some sparkle.

I hope you have a chance to play along with us this month and also to check out the fabulous cards by my team members. Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!

  1. Such a pretty card. I don’t do soft colours very well either, but you did a fabulous job here. These pink roses are beautifully watercolored. The gold embossing elevated it to elegant.

  2. Wonderful pairing with the gold embossing and light pink watercolor, it turned out beautifully Ericka! Like you, I find light colors tricky because I like lots of contrast, so using the colored pencil to shade was a great idea, it looks lovely.

  3. Such a beautiful rose, I have so many rose stamps but it never feels like enough. I am sure I need this one and it looks so beautiful in the soft colours and with the gold embossing. Hugs Aileen
