It’s a Girl Thing

turner

Welcome to my project for the “It’s A Girl Thing” Turner Syndrome Awareness 2nd Annual Blog Hop!

Turner Syndrome is a genetic disorder where a female is born with only one X chromosome, instead of two, leaving her with life-long medical issues and learning disabilities. This condition occurs one in 2,500 female births worldwide, but is more common among pregnancies that do not survive to full term. That is why Turner Syndrome Females are considered MIRACLES!
Prize Winners will be announced on February 15, 2020.
Thirty-six caring Sponsors and nine DT Members are offering prizes to commenters and they are helping bring Turner Syndrome Awareness to the Public. For details on how you might win any of these fabulous prizes, please see Lori’s TS home page. Thanks for learning About Turner Syndrome.

Nine designers are offering prizes on their personal blogs as well:

My TS related project is inspired by the TSA official color board:

Here is the card I made for this awesome Blog Hop!

buttermain

I love this butterfly from Crackerbox & Suzy Stamp and I feel this sentiment is perfect not only for this blog hop but for life. The butterfly has become the symbol for “Turner Girls”. Just like a butterfly, they are considered fragile and beautiful miracles. Turner Syndrome may also cause a myriad of health complications, such as heart defects, learning disabilities and infertility, according to the Mayo Clinic. To find out more about Turner Syndrome visit this link.

I used an alcohol ink background I had made previously on translucent yupo. I love the bright colors and used a stamp with alcohol lift ink for a little texture.

butterwings

I stamped the butterfly in Versafine ink on the background but then decided to add some brighter colors. I used some vellum and made three colorful butterflies with beautiful WOW embossing powders. I fussy cut the butterflies and then added foam tape to the middle and stacked them on top of each other so it looked like a multicolored butterfly.

I finished the card with this sentiment on vellum and white heat embossed it.

I love taking part in this blog hop and becoming more aware about what Turner Syndrome is and helping to spread the word. To find out

The blog hop will run from February 1st through the 7th and to visit the “It’s A Girl Thing” Turner Syndrome Awareness Blog Hop 2020  page to become eligible for prizes.

  16. It’s a beautiful card, Ericka, full of lively colors (like a mosaic resembling the health conditions so many TS girls encounter). The EPs and lovely butterfly are just perfect for the Awareness blog hop. Thank you for participating in the TSA blog hop and helping your followers become knowledgeable about this condition.
