Peonies in Pencil

It’s time for a the reminder card over at The Flower Challenge and this month the theme is “Favorite Flower.”

Today I have a card I made using Pretty Peonies Background from Simon Says Stamp.

I started by stamping the background on black cardstock with Versamark ink. I heat embossed it with this beautiful WOW Metalline Himalayan Musk powder that has a dark pinkish shimmer.

I used my Polychromos Colored Pencils to color up these beautiful flowers. I always started out coloring a white base so that my colors would show up a bit brighter on the black cardstock. Here are the combinations I used:

Peonies: Pink Carmine 127, Fushia 123, Light Purple Pink 128, Pink Madder Lake 129

Leaves:Deep Cobaly Green 158, Phthalo Green 161, Light Phthalo Green 162, Light Green171

Small buds: Ivory 103, Light Cadmuim Yellow 105, Cadmuim Yello 107

For the sentiment I used the Nested Banner die and then heat embossed it with the same embossing powder. I really love the pink metallic look of the embossing powder. I stamped the sentiment on black cardstock and also heat embossed it. To finish it off I added a couple of sequins.
