Fancy Blooms Background Stamping

Happy weekend! I hope you are enjoying your day and finding a little time for some crafting. It’s time for the reminder post for The Flower Challenge and this month’s challenge is Focus in Background Stamping.

Here is my DT card for this fun challenge.

I started by stamping the two main floral images from the Pinkfresh Fancy Blooms set on Copic friendly paper with Gina K Amalgam ink. I used my MISTI to ensure a clean crisp image. Then I filled in the gaps with a smaller floral image from the same set.

I decided to use a lighter red and pink for the main flowers using R01, R21, R22, and R24. The blues I used alternated depending on the leaves and  B12, B16, B24, B26, B28 and B29. For the lighter flowers I used B000, B00, B01, and B02.

Once I was finished coloring the flowers, I felt the background was a little too light so used Y00 to add a light shade of yellow to the card. Here is what it looked like as I tested a corner to see if the yellow would work.

Once I finished the background, I used the Basic Label die from Pinkfresh and cut a larger piece with black paper and a smaller piece with the sentiment on white. I shaded the edges of the white to tie in with the background but left the center white to help it pop a little.

I finished my card with a little white gel pen on some of the petals as well as used a black pen to trace over a couple of the petals that I had hand stamped and weren’t as crisp as the other images.
