It’s a new month and summertime is in full swing here in Texas, which basically means we are either at the pool or inside with the air conditioning cracked up. It is also time for a new challenge over at The Flower Challenge. This month it is all about backgrounds.
This month we have a Guest Designer joining us, Deepti Malik. Deepti is also a talented stamp designer and you can find them at Dee’s Artsy Impressions. She’s is also giving the winner of the challenge an amazing floral stamp set worth $15 as a prize! So make sure to check out the rules here to enter.
Here is my Design Team card for the challenge.
I love this beautiful stamp from The Ton called Gardenia Garden! This really was a simple card to make, I let the stamp and the Color Bursts do all the work.
First I stamped the background on watercolor paper with Versamark ink and white heat embossed it. Then I spritzed a small amount of water on all the flowers. I added a little bit of the Wisteria Color Burst )a little goes a long way) and let the water carry the color around the flower. I love the different colors you get with the Color Burst powders depending on the amount of powder and water. I let the first layer dry and then used a paint brush to wet the rest of the background and used Ultramarine Color Burst.
I wanted a simple sentiment and used this one from The Ton’s Daffodil Greeting on some black card stock with white embossing. I wanted to give it a little bit of a background so cut a small piece of vellum for a frame and attached it with foam tape.
For a final touch, I added some clear sequins. Thanks for stopping by and make sure to check out the other gorgeous cards the Design Team made to this challenge.

I’m very, very intimidated by big stamps, you make it look so easy Ericka. I especially love the gorgeous results you achieved with the Color Burst pigments, so rich and bold on some parts of the flowers and, so soft and delicate on others.
Beautifully done!!!
Hugs.

Amazing colors! I always get a bunch of mud in the background when I try to use pigment powders…I love the idea of using a BG stamp that allows you to cover much of the background with embossing powder to mask from the mud. This is beautiful! Love the color variations!

Thanks Enna. I think the trick is letting the layer of color dry before moving on to the next color. It allows for a little more control.
