Thank You Bouquet

It’s February 4th and that means it is time for a new challenge over at The Flower Challenge. This month the challenge is to “Use Your Latest Stamp or Die.”

No problem here, since I might be a little guilty of buying a couple of stamps during all of the holiday sales!
Here is one of my latest I purchased during a great Simon Says Stamp sale.

I started by stamping the image in InkOn3 Fade Out ink and then went to work on coloring the flowers with my Copics.

I started by picking out colors that I thought would complement each other. I colored the pink one first and then worked my way around. When coloring with Copics I tend to pick a dark and very light color that complement my main three colors. I start with the second to darkest color, where I think the shadows will be, and work my way to the lightest, skipping the very lightest. I then add a second layer to the image using the darkest color in my combo and repeat all the layers in order to blend and add depth to the image. I’m still practicing with my Copics and no expert but this is what I found helps me blend the colors the best.

Below is the list of colors I used in case you like the combo starting from the lightest to the darkest.
Pink Flowers – RV10, RV11, RV13, RV32, RV34, and E04
Yellow Flowers – Y000, Y11, Y13, Y15, Y17
Purple Leaves – BV00, BV02, BV04, BV08
Blue Leaves – B21, B32, B95, B97, B99
Blue Background – Blender 0, BG000, BG01, BG02 with a little C1, C3 for shading next to the lower parts of the flowers

I finished by added the white heat embossed sentiment from Concord & 9th and adding a couple of clear sequins.
I hope you have a chance to play along with us this month at The Flower Challenge and be sure to check my team members’ gorgeous cards too!
I have also entered my card in the Simon Says Wednesday Challenge of Anything Goes.

  2. Ericka, this card is gorgeous, I love the rich colors of these flowers and the blues on the leaves, the blue on the background makes this image stand out beautifully.
Copic markers require talent to make them look this fabulous.
