I hope you are having a wonderful fall weekend and getting a little crafty time in before Halloween. Have you had a chance to play along with A Blog Named Hero challenge this month?
Aren’t these colors gorgeous?
I recently bought these fun (and little bit snarky) stamp set from Hero Arts and thought that they would pair well with some distress oxide backgrounds. Warning: I got a little carried away making backgrounds in these beautiful colors and had way too much fun making cards.
Using Distress Oxides pads and re-inkers on photo paper or glossy paper always creates bright and beautiful backgrounds. Like I said, I always end up making way too many backgrounds so this was a pretty easy way to use them to make some fun cards.
For these cards I mainly used re-inkers. I put the distress oxide ink on a media mat, spritzed it with a little water and then laid or swiped the photo paper in it. If you want to make layers of color, just make sure the first layer is dry.
Once you are happy with the results, wipe down the photo paper with a soft cloth to reveal bright backgrounds. It you want to seal the background you can also use Distress Glaze.
Once I had all my background, I experimented with different ways to lay them out to make unique cards, including lines and swiping the paper different ways in the ink.
For this one I used a square die to cut shapes and use them on the card.
And my last one is for my husband, who I love very much but yes, sometimes it is a challenge. Lol
I hope I’ve given you some good ideas on how you can use your background with these awesome sets from Hero Arts and I can’t wait to see what you create! Thanks for stopping by!

Love the colors you used. I always thought about using Distress Oxides on Yupo paper. Not sure if it will work but I have Yupo paper but I don’t have Alcohol re-inkers. Well, I don’t have Distress Oxide re-inkers, anyway. =) Thank you for the inspiration.

Maria I think Distress Oxides would work on Yupo since I’ve used watercolor on Yupo. It just might not be as bright. You should try it and I love to see the result. DO pads would work too if you have them. Have fun experimenting.
