Autumn Colors

It is the 15th of the month which means it is time for another A Blog Named Hero Arts Challenge.

OCtChallenge

This month we are using a color pallet below:

Aren’t these colors gorgeous? Here are the two cards I made using these colors.

This month I am also participating in Snarktoberfest 2018 hosted by Josefine at HolyLise.com and so when I saw these snarky sentiments from Hero Arts, I just had to get them.

For both cards I used alcohol inks and the alcohol ink lift off pad.

To begin first create your alcohol ink design on Yupo paper using the color combos you like. Let the alcohol ink dry and then use the Alcohol Lift-Ink.

Note: I have been playing around with the pad and not really loving what I was coming out with, frustrated I put it away for a bit and worked on other things. Then I watched a couple of videos and learned a couple of things.

  1. Use your re-inker – If you are using the Alcohol Lift-Ink pad and not getting a good lift off, meaning you aren’t really seeing anything once you stamp the image, try re-inking your pad. My pad was new and I therefore thought it would work great, but it didn’t. Once I used the re-inker on the pad and made it a little more juicy, the results were perfect!
  2. Use a stamp positioner – (MISTI is my go to) this way if you stamp the image and don’t like the result, you can re-stamp (or re-ink the pad) and try again without wasting your alcohol ink work.
  3. Let it sit – Once you stamp the image with the Lift-Ink, let the stamp sit on your Yupo paper for a little bit, use some pressure, and give the Lift-Ink some chance to work.
  4. Patience – After you stamped you Yupo paper, use a porous paper and re-stamp the image with the alcohol ink that is now on your stamp. Clean your stamp well and then move back to your Yupo paper and dab off the Lift-Ink.
  5. Dab – Dab of the Lift-Ink off the Yupo paper to revel the image. Don’t rub right away or you’ll end up with a hot mess.

Once my card was done, I added these fun snarky sentiment. I love this set from Hero Arts because it also has great sentiments for the inside of the card. Here is the one I chose for the first card.

For my second card, I used the same techniques as above but just cut the design to give the card a different look.

Here is the inside of that card.

I hope this inspired you to enter our fun challenge, I can’t wait to see what you create. Thanks for stopping by!
