I hope you’ve had a chance to play along with us over at The Flower Challenge. This month’s challenge is one layer cards, check out all the beautiful Design Team entries.
For my card I’m using a beautiful set from Jane’s Doodles called Hibiscus. I love the sizes of the flowers and found it rather easy to mask and layer them. I started out cutting some watercolor card stock in the size of an A2 card and folded. I stamped the sentiment from Ellen Hutson and then used some masking fluid on it so that I could stamp around it. I also stamped the flowers and masked them off with masking paper.
I then googled hibiscus to figure out how I wanted to paint them. Here is the image I decided to try to re-create.
I used a variety of watercolors, but at the end wasn’t very happy with the look (see below).
So using the tips from Kathy Racoosin from the Daily Marker, I took out some color pencils to add some more dimension to the flowers. I then removed the masking fluid and colored the sentiment with the color pencils and some glitter pen. Once I was finished, I outlined everything in black ink to make the image crisper with some more dimension.
Thanks for stopping by. I also am submitting this to The Daily Marker Coloring Contest. Check out the link for more information to play along.
