Let Love Shine

I’m over at the A Blog Named Hero today playing along with the current challenge.

Since I started making cards, I’ve realized that I’m obsessed with floral images, so I was super excited for this challenge. Hero Arts has some great ones and for this card I’m working with two Antique Rose images. I don’t know about you, but sometimes I get stuck using the same color pallet, so today, I CASed Erum Tasneem. She uses beautiful and unique color combinations for her flowers and so I decided to see if I could come up with something similar.

To start off I stamped the images in Versamark Ink on watercolor paper and heat embossed them in gold. I used Gansai Tambi watercolors in No. 57, 51, and 91. No. 57 was my main color and I laid it down closer to the middle of the flower and in the shadow areas of the petals. Working on one petal at a time, I took a clean brush and filled the rest of the petal with water, pulling the color to the empty space. Once those were dry, I took random parts of the petals and added in the gold (No.91) and the lighter green (No.51). I love the look that the gold gives the flower.

Once the flowers were all dry, and I was done playing with shading, I added some gold washi tape to the center of the card. I stamped the sentiment on some black card stock in Versamark ink and heat embossed it in gold as well. I adhered the sentiment with foam tape to give it some dimension and then adhered the card onto black card stock. I love this sentiment and feel like it really adds to the “shine” of the card. To finish the card, I added some splatters of gold paint.
