It’s my first post as a Design Team member for The Flower Challenge and I’m so excited. I love coloring flowers and am so honored to be able to participate as a DT for this wonderful group. I hope you enjoy my card and are inspired to play along with us.
The challenge this month is shaped cards. I’m not going to lie, this one was out of my comfort zone since I usually make A2 shaped cards. Talking about stretching some creative skills,
I’ve always loved bouquets and so I thought I would try making one from Altenew’s set Sakura Blossom. I loved all the beautiful images I saw made with this stamp as well as the gorgeous cards my fellow DT members came up with.
I decided to make a bouquet of flowers and first die cut a partial triangle out of white card stock in order to leave the side attached to make a fold. I then took some pattern paper and die cut it to glue to the front. I die cut a tag out of Kraft paper and used Verafine ink to stamp the sentiment and clear heat emboss.
I attached some twine to the tag and then used both clear tape and washi tape to attach it to the card. To add interest, I blended some Walnut Stain Distress ink on the sides of the tag and card base.
I then die cut the multiple flowers and parts out on watercolor paper. I lightly spritzed the pieces with water and added Color Bursts in Peony, Orchid, and Violet. Once all my parts were dry, I used the creases from the die cut and folded the parts in order to give them more dimension. I also used some colored pencils on the flowers to give them a little more dimension.
I arranged several leaves first and then adhered them to the card. I used Zots 3D dots then to attach the flowers to the card base as well as give it dimension.
I hope you enjoyed my card and have a chance to play along with us over at The Flower Challenge.

What a great flower arrangement, Erika. I’ve never tried to paint with Brushos but I love the look you got with them. They look wonderful in the little cone.

A great first card as a DT member. As a fellow newbie and rectangle card lover I can totally understand your nerves creating a different shaped card. My excitement to nervous ratio was through the roof, lol. Anyway once again fab card Ericka.
