Its November 1st and we are officially in the holiday season! I’m so excited and honored to be a guest designer for The Ton’s November Challenge. This month the cue word is: HOLIDAY.
I am addicted to coloring the beautiful background stamps from The Ton. So when I saw the Poinsettia Close Up Background Cling Stamp, I knew I had to have it for my holiday cards. I love how fun it is to color this beautiful image and the variety of looks you can create with it.
For my first card, I stamped the image with some Versamark Ink and heat embossed it with The Ton’s Rose Gold Embossing Powder. Have you tried this gorgeous embossing powered? It adds a touch of elegance to any card and has become one of my favorites.
After water coloring the image with ZIG Clean Color Real Brush Marker, I adhered it to a navy card base. My sentiment is from The Ton’s Holiday Flourishes and is also embossed in the Rose Gold.
I wanted to play a little more with this gorgeous stamp and created a couple more cards, because can you really have too many Christmas cards to send to friends and family? For my second card I heat embossed the image with Brutus Monroe Gilded Shimmer Embossing Powder (retired) on some watercolor paper. This embossing powder gave the perfect amount of sparkle to the image.
I used Derwent Watercolor pencils to give the poinsettia a more lined look. Since the embossing powder had glitter in it, I decided to use the sentiment from Reverse Confetti and embossed in the same powder and the die sentiment from Neat and Tangled with a little Wink of Stella for shine.
For my third holiday card, I heat embossed the image with white embossing powder and took out the Ken Oliver Color Bursts.
I love the rich colors you get using Color Burst and first used some yellow for the center. Once that dried, I masked the center and added my reds and misted them with water. I wanted to add a little more shadow to some of the petals and used some colored pencils in red and purple to help make the image pop.
I heat embossed the sentiment from Holiday Love in white on some black cardstock and added a little sparkly washi tape to add some shine.
