I don’t know about you, but I love coloring. However, when you have two active kids, its difficult to take time for much of anything. I’ve been trying to keep up this month with 30 Day Coloring Challenge hosted by Kathy at the Daily Marker.
Its been nice to have an excuse to go into my craft room, after the kids are in bed, and take out some stamps and figure out a small project to color. The added bonus will also be that I will have tons of images to make into cards. Here are a couple I’ve done so far.
I love these flowers from Unity Stamp Co. They are big, bold, and the stamp packets (Better with Friends and Blow Your Mind) also have these amazing texture stamps to add some depth to your card. I stamped the flowers on Strathmore Bristol Smooth paper, embossed them with Brutus Monroe Gilded and Sterling Embossing Powder. Then I used my Zig Clean Color Brush Pens to color the images. I like to color the bottom of the flower and then take my waterbrush and pull the color to the rest of the petal leaving the top a lighter. Once these were dry, I used Distress Ink in Salty Ocean and Chipped Sapphire to blend a background and stamp some texture onto the card stock. I’m thinking about making this a Mother’s Day card, and will post an update once its finished.
Have I mentioned that I might be a bit obsessed with beautiful flowers? This is The Ton’s Floral Border Background stamp and I partially stamped it and embossed it in white. I made a slight mistake with choosing my medium since the paper I used wasn’t very conducive to watercoloring. So instead, I used several colors to try to make the color move. In the end I like the effect it has on the flowers. Again, I used a darker color in the inside of the flowers and lighter towards the edge. I masked the flowers and used Distress Spray in Broken China and then sprayed some Lindy’s Stamp Gang Starburst Spray in Delphinium Turquoise to give it some shimmer.
As an added bonus, I was even able to get my girls and husband to sit and color a bit. We are having lots of fun making a little time for some relaxing coloring! Thank you to Kathy for hosting this wonderful challenge that I can also get my kids involved in!
Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.
